Growing up in Brisbane and spending countless holidays by the coast, colour has always been connected to memory for me.
Sunday Lemons captures that feeling of sunshine, simplicity and abundance. The bright citrus, turquoise sky-like background and blush pink tabletop are less about realism and more about emotion — a visual memory of warm days, family kitchens and fruit bowls filled with summer produce.
Using bold colour and intuitive mark-making, I explore how everyday objects can carry feeling and tell stories.
Like many of my paintings, this small painting is joyful, playful and unapologetically bright.
